About Us

RoboCupJunior Americas

RoboCupJunior Americas is an educational robotics initiative that spans multiple countries across North and South America, promoting STEM education and 21st-century skills among students up to 19 years old. As part of the global RoboCup organization, it features three main competitive leagues - Soccer, Rescue, and OnStage - each designed to foster problem-solving, teamwork, and technological innovation.

Countries including the United States, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Panama, and Chile actively participate through their respective regional committees, organizing local events and contributing to the growth of robotics education throughout the Americas. This collaborative effort culminates in the annual RoboCupJunior International Competition, where teams from across the continent showcase their autonomous robots and compete on a global stage.

Regional committees play a vital role in promoting and organizing RoboCupJunior activities across the Americas. These committees are responsible for:
- Organizing local RoboCup events and open competitions
- Managing qualifications for international RoboCup leagues
- Maintaining RoboCup standards for scientific research and education
- Promoting the RoboCup initiative within their respective countries
- Fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among participants

Each committee adapts the global RoboCup framework to suit local educational needs and technological capabilities, ensuring robotics education's continued growth and relevance throughout North and South America.

The RoboCupJunior regional representatives are listed on the RoboCupJunior Community site.

25 years of making history

RoboCupJunior is an international educational robotics initiative that has been inspiring young students worldwide to engage with STEM subjects through hands-on robotics competitions for over 25 years.

The concept debuted in 1998 at the RoboCup international competition in Paris, France, and has evolved into a dynamic platform. The first official RoboCupJunior Educational competition was held in Melbourne, Australia, in 2000, introducing three core challenges: Dance, Sumo (later renamed Rescue), and Soccer.

This initiative has become a significant force in promoting robotics and STEM education among young learners. Participation in RoboCupJunior enhances students' interest and learning in STEM subjects, computational thinking, and engineering skills. It provides a stimulating learning environment, connecting students to industry professionals and enabling them to solve real-world problems. RoboCupJunior contributes positively to education by increasing students' motivation, improving teamwork abilities, and fostering creativity in problem-solving. Additionally, the program has a positive social impact by encouraging integration between schools, universities, and the larger community, creating a supportive ecosystem for young roboticists.

Join us in celebrating the 25 years of RoboCupJunior and be a part of this inspiring journey.
